On November 28th, 2018, the two design masters Mr. Steve Leung and Mr. Kun Dai showed up in AXENT booth on the second day of Guangzhou Design Week, launching the second session of “Big Shot Talk”. At the conference, they released their new sanitary products co-designed with AXENT. And they discussed their design inspiration with dozens of media and nearly 100 designers present, leading to the collision of thinking.
AXENT X Mr. Steve Leung HANSO Series
Mr. Steve Leung, a famous designer and founder of SLD, shared his design ideas in the beginning. As the designer of HANSO series, Mr. Steve Leung held that the inspiration of this collection, which has simple and elegant appearance, as well as embodies Chinese unique classical esthetic, came from the ancient craft of calligraphy and architecture of Chinese Tang and Song dynasties — Silkworm Head & Yan of clerical script. He absorbed the traditional calligraphy and merged it into the modern minimalism. After dozens of adjustments and modifications, he finally managed to present it to the public.
The classical and natural charm and unique aesthetic elements brings XT-CABINET of HANSO series the artistic conception of Chinese drawing and majestic momentum of Han and Song dynasties. Integrating Zen with the forms of mountain and water, the streamlined black-and-white pattern of XT-CABINET is as natural as green hills and flowing water. With the artistic design of Mr. Steve Leung, XT-CABINET of HANSO series presents a poetic life for us with natural and cozy landscape, letting people find their inner peace. According to Mr. Steve Leung, the combination of classical art and modern design, as well as traditional culture and modern intelligent products should face global customers based on the international market. AXENT X Mr. Kun Dai XT-CABINET Color Collection
Mr. Kun Dai, a well-known Chinese architect and interior designer, also shared his unique understanding of design. He has been researching color tideway and has completed many textbooks. He advocates practical, artistic and economical design concepts.
In 2018, Mr. Kun Dai cooperated with AXENT and presented the XT-CABINET Color Collection, bringing unprecedented vogue and color to the bathroom. When talking about the cooperation with AXENT, he held: “I enjoyed the cooperation with AXENT very much, it is just like working with some crazy people. I have expressed my ideas to many manufacturers, but they ignored because they don’t want to do it at all, which is a real pity. However, AXENT science geeks have completed the module design of the smart cabinet, and what we need to do is to introduce those colorful and technological modules into more houses. This is our job.”
“A likeable product must be stylish and lady-oriented. As warm color is preferable for the Northern China while the cool color is suitable for the South, our color design should be based on the reality and needs of different customers. We will update the fashionable colors with AXENT every year to make your bathroom keep up with your aesthetic, and match your dress and the accessories. We can make the bathroom more fashionable and vigorous. I hope that with AXENT, we can design products with better looking and stronger compatibility. We also pay our attention to ceramic tiles and the ground, so that every lady can have a beautiful and unique bathroom. We aim to build a practical and brilliant bathroom.”
Wonderful Q&A
The audiences were enthusiastic and asked many questions during the live interaction. When asked about how traditional culture can do the subtraction in modern aesthetics, to design simple and practical products with cultural connotation? Mr. Steve Leung stated that as a matter of fact, we have already subtracted design when rationally taking the account of product’s position, market, craftsmanship and material. At the same time, his affection towards Chinese culture enables him to adhere to classic and simple design, so as to better show Chinese traditional culture to the world.
As for how to balance characteristic with universality of product’s function when facing different usages, Mr. Kun Dai held that as a designer, the discerning eyes and observant professional habits enable him to easily discover the using habit of common customers and the inadequacies of product’s function, which help him meet the needs of various customers with the most practical functions.
